The CNC sheet shear feeder has great potential to improve safety in the way in which steel and aluminum sheets are sheared. The unit provides greater safety to the operator as the shearing operation is "hands free" and much of the lifting and manipulation of sheets has been eliminated. This process eliminates the risk of back problems and pinched fingers which could commonly be associated with the shearing process. The operators obligation is limited to clamping the material and pushing the GO button. From that point, the sheet is accurately positioned and sheared as directed by the program. In today's workplace, this piece of machinery would help greatly in achieving the ergonomic goal which all Service Centers must follow.
Quality would be greatly increased with the consistent + .005" tolerance and scratch-free handling. The measurement baseline is automatically standardized whenever a new program is started, a drive fault detected, or on demand. Thereafter, the sheet is positioned to within 0.002" of each length demanded. Sheet usage will now be optimized and less scrap will be produced using the Shear Feed Table. There will also be less product returned from customers due to pieces which are not to specification.
Productivity is increased due to the fast 1100" per min. feed speed along with a "machine" paced rate that is as fast at the end of a shift as at the start. Scrap is virtually eliminated, as the first piece is correct - every time. Set-up time is reduced to almost "zero" with user friendly programming and a memory for 800 programs.
